Year 8 and 9 visited Manchester Airport to see what life was like inside a busy airport and the roles of the different personnel there. From ground staff, check-in staff to cabin crew and pilots, this wealth of information really gave them an insight into the importance of each persons role in a large organisation and the importance of teamwork and responsibilty.
The first part of the tour was held in the cabin of the an airplane, a DC10, here pupils were involved in role play, to help understand each role.
Information was also given about the aircraft that they were sitting in. The children were given the opportunity to visit the flight deck of the DC10, where they were shown some of the flight controls to help understand how they affect the operation of the aircraft.
The rest of the tour was focused on the aircraft that can be seen taking off and landing, in addition to any other vehicles moving around the runway.
